DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
The department of Civil Engineering was started in August 2014 during the establishment of the institute. At present, it offers the Diploma in Civil Engineering with a sanctioned intake of 60 students. The Department broadly covers important fields such as Surveying, Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Hydraulics and Water Resources Engineering, Construction Materials and Practices, Environmental Engineering, and Transportation Engineering. The Department has well-established laboratories to cater to the needs of academic activities. It is well equipped with computational facilities and resources both in terms of hardware and software. The Department has well-qualified and committed faculty members and lab technician. Students of the department are highly enthusiastic and actively participate in various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities apart from giving their best in academics. Guest lectures, industrial visits, site visits, etc., are organized and value-added courses are conducted on regular basis to ensure that students are conversant with recent developments in the field of Civil Engineering.
VISION:
To be a preeminent center in civil engineering education with a unique amalgamation of inspired learning to create technically proficient, morally upright, and environmentally responsible human resource for the benefit of society.
MISSION:
- To ensure that the purpose of education is fulfilled in both the acquisition of advance knowledge and skills in major paradigms of civil engineering as well as the development of the wisdom and critical judgment that are indispensable for their effective application.
- To develop a pool of ecopreneurs who have the knowledge, abilities, and inventive thinking necessary to handle the rapidly evolving societal and industrial demands with innate concern for environment.
- To establish a learning atmosphere that will foster students’ creativity, entrepreneurship, high moral and ethical standards and enhance inherent leadership capability.
- To strengthen interactive relationship with premier technological institutions and industries to nurture and inculcate the nascent mind.
PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOs):
PEO1: Empower students to attain expertise in identifying, formulating, and solving Civil Engineering problems by applying their knowledge to meet the challenges, demands, and expectations of modern society.
PEO2:Groom students to exhibit professional attitudes, ethical behavior, and communication with the ability to adapt to the latest developments and trends by engaging themselves in life-long learning.
PEO3: Inspire students to excel in the civil engineering profession or entrepreneurship with the knowledge of planning and design of civil engineering products, and encourage them for further education and research.
PROGRAM SPECIFIC OUTCOMES (PSOs):
On successful completion, Civil Engineering graduates will be able to:
PSO1: Technically interpret, analyse and apply different standards/Codes and modern engineering tools used in professional Civil Engineering for fulfilling the requirements of society and the environment.
PSO2: Work effectively as an individual or in a team with leadership skills to meet the needs of the public in the design and execution of quality construction projects.
